Optimum Nutrition's Amino Energy supplement is used the same as a pre-workout, or can be used any time for a dose of Amino Acids. I drink it 30-45 minutes before I start exercising and I can guarantee that you will see increased amounts of energy throughout your workout.
It has a high caffeine content to fuel you right through until you're done. You just mix it with water and away you go.
I've been using this over the last couple of months in order to combat the effects of the illness I'm still recovering from, which leaves you feeling very drained. I was struggling for energy or to even get up and go to the gym at all, but this really got me fired up right from the first use.
Personally, my favourite flavour is the Watermelon flavour, however all the flavours have a very potent taste and some people do say that it is too sweet. I do suggest that you try to not use it too late on during the day as the caffeine has prevented me from being able to get a good nights sleep if I've used it late on when doing a late workout (around 8:30pm).
As for results, I can honestly say that this has kept me on top of my cardio and weight training routines through times where I thought I really should just put it on the back burner.
In comparison to other products I've used such as proper Pre- Workout supplements such as the GAT Nitraflex that I've reviewed, or even ON's own Gold Standard Pre, I'd suggest using this if you have a strange reaction to the levels of caffeine in them.
I didn't experience the itchiness that people tend to report, or the shaking that people say they get when using high level caffeine products.
All around I would give it a solid 8/10 as some times when mixing it does get a little bit gritty and stuck in a shaker. The best way to combat this that I've found is to add it to a bottle of water and shake it up in that.
